Throw Together the Perfect Party SNACK
WE LOVE A LAST MINUTE CHEESE BOARD.
Cait and I have been consciously trying to keep our fridge full and cook more meals at home. In doing that, we realized we completely forgot how to grocery shop. It took a couple of times, but we're finally back in the rhythm, and one of our favorite things to explore is the basket of cheese ends.
The cheese expert at our local pavilions individually wraps different kinds and sizes when he gets to the end of a wheel. It has saved us in a pinch a few times. Last week, I was helping a friend with a self-tape (duh, actors in LA), and the next thing I knew, we were having an impromptu gathering at our place. I quickly scoured the fridge, hoping to throw together some lil' bites, when I remembered our vast selection of cheese. I grabbed a cutting board and placed all of our bits and ends, plus some blueberry preserves, dill pickles, almonds, and anything else that felt relevant. Moral of the story: always have a wide variety of unique cheese, and you'll never stress about throwing together an elegant snack option.
WTF should I drink?
Cheese is salty, so obviously, you need a delicious and thirst-quenching drink to go alongside. This time I created a unique AF cocktail with pressed coconut water, a schishandra berry botanical tee, and garnished with a sprig of rosemary. Coconut water is an excellent base for mixed drinks and creates a creamy, complex flavor profile when mixed with almost anything, including but not limited to juices, sparkling water, etc. So, next time you're grocery shopping, grab coconut water and... cheese!
